Zion Gregory turned in one of the strongest individual performances of the morning in Virginia Beach, running a 5:30/mi average to win the M30-34 race by 4:43 over Cranston. He sat 2nd among men at every checkpoint — never wavering, never chased — and this result comes on the heels of his 2nd-place finish in the Men's 8K earlier in the weekend. Racing hard twice in one event is a story in itself; racing this well twice makes it something else entirely.

Behind Gregory, the real drama was a back-half charge by two Virginia Beach-area runners. John Cranston (Corpus Christi, TX) was buried in 21st among men through the first 5K but methodically worked his way forward, and when it mattered most — 20K to the finish — nobody in the men's field ran that stretch faster. He crossed in 1:16:45. Aaron Myers (Virginia Beach, VA) tracked a nearly identical arc, starting 26th among men and finishing 12th, posting the 7th-fastest men's split on the 15K–20K segment along the way. His 1:17:27 earned him the final podium spot by 1:10 over Ritvik Nag (Herndon, VA), who ran a steady 1:18:37 at 5:60/mi.

Austin Lushinski (Ashburn, VA) told the opposite story — he started sharp, sitting 6th among men through 5K (with the 15th-fastest men's split on that opening segment), but faded to 16th by the finish in 1:19:14. John Locke (Catonsville, MD) and Guillermo Manzanares (Arlington, VA) rounded out the top seven in 1:20:03 and 1:21:02 respectively, both running controlled races in humid, breezy conditions on the Virginia Beach coast.
