Anne Spillane, racing at age 59 on her home turf in Virginia Beach, turned in the kind of performance that makes a result feel inevitable in hindsight. Her 7:45/mi pace held steady across 13.1 miles in humid, breezy conditions — 55°F and 95% humidity with an 11 mph wind — and her 3:00 margin over Elizabeth Golpira was never seriously threatened. Spillane's gender place drifted slightly from 76th among women at the 5K to 95th at the finish, a natural settling as the broader women's field found its rhythm, but within F55-59 she was untouchable.

Golpira, 56, out of nearby Norfolk, ran a smart, patient race. She was 148th among women through the first 5K but worked her way up steadily, reaching 136th by 20K before settling at 144th at the line. Her 1:44:37 finish at 7:59/mi was a clear second — and a full 2:32 ahead of the podium battle unfolding behind her.

That battle belonged to Victoria Harness and Kelly Borkman. Harness (57, Mechanicsville) came through the 5K–10K segment in 111th among women but faded to 186th by 20K, clocking a 1:47:09 finish at 8:10/mi. Borkman (59, Virginia Beach) ran a similar arc — 167th among women at 10K, 193rd at the line — finishing in 1:47:44 at 8:13/mi. Just 35 seconds separated them after more than 13 miles of racing; Harness held on for 3rd.

Kelley Hodges rounded out the top five in 1:53:00, with a strong 10K–15K segment (297th-fastest women's split) helping her maintain position through the back half. Behind her, Kimberly Bernard (6th, 1:56:00) through Candace Durmaz (10th, 1:58:11) formed a tight cluster, with just two minutes covering five finishers — a testament to the depth across this competitive F55-59 field.
