Grayson Hough, 33, of Davis, made this race his own from the opening miles. Holding the men's lead from start to finish, he posted a 5:11/mi average on a warm November morning in Folsom — 74°F with broken clouds — and never gave anyone a reason to think the top spot was in question. His Mile 4→Mile 10 split was the fastest in the men's field, a stretch where he simply pulled away from everyone.

Behind him, the real drama belonged to Remington Breeze. The 27-year-old from Rancho Cordova was sitting 6th through the early miles, then turned in the second-fastest middle split in the men's field to vault all the way to 2nd by the finish — crossing in 1:21:23. Parker Daniells, who had been running 2nd, couldn't hold that position over the back half, eventually settling for 4th in 1:25:00. Joe Viglienzoni (3rd, 1:23:48) and Jonathan Carter (5th, 1:25:55) were steady throughout, rounding out a tight podium chase where 2nd through 5th were covered by just over four minutes.

Further back, the battle around the 1:34 mark was genuinely close: Chris (Butch) Humbert, 61, of Mound, MN, crossed 7th in 1:34:20 at a 7:12/mi clip, with Nick Kakavas just two seconds behind in 8th (1:34:22). Humbert's effort at 61 — finishing 7th in a 117-man field — was one of the quiet highlights of the morning.
