The Mile 10-to-Finish segment was where he truly stamped it, posting the 18th-fastest split on that stretch in the entire field.

Behind him, the early battle for second shaped up between fellow Placerville runners Abe Borba and Walter Brand, both 20. Borba held the edge at 1:57:00 to Brand's 2:04:43, but neither was moving in a flattering direction — Borba slipped from 32nd to 47th among men through the Mile 4-to-Mile 10 stretch, while Brand dropped from 33rd to 58th over that same segment. The heat likely had something to say about that.

Ethan Davis (2:10:44) and Gerardo Enriquez (2:15:32) rounded out the top five, with Davis holding his men's field position steady at 64th from Mile 4 onward — a sign of even pacing if not outright speed. Jacob Sevilla and Chandler Velasco were separated by just 73 seconds at 6th and 7th, the closest battle of the day in this group. Clifton Heatlie, 21, of Folsom, brought it home in 2:39:38 to complete the eight-man M20-24 field.
