Edward Soule showed up, toed the line, and got it done. The 76-year-old from Owens Cross Roads, Alabama was the only finisher in the M75-79 group at the 2024 Rocket City Marathon 5K, crossing in 57:52 at an 18:38-per-mile pace.

There's no podium battle to dissect here, no surges or late fades to narrate — just one man in his mid-seventies covering 3.1 miles on a December morning while most people his age were still finishing their coffee. That's worth something on its own.
