Felicia Stevens, 43, from Ashland, KY, turned in one of the sharpest performances of the day in this age group. Her 7:13-per-mile pace put clear daylight between herself and the rest of the field almost immediately, and her winning margin of over two and a half minutes left no doubt about who owned this race. It was a commanding wire-to-wire statement.

Behind Stevens, Jennifer McFate-Wikan of Bettendorf, IA made a solid claim on second at 24:53 (8:01/mi), while the battle for the final podium spot was as tight as it gets. Eden Howard and Perla Nunez — both 43, both clocking 25:47 at 8:18/mi — crossed in what the clock couldn't separate, but the timing system did: Howard took 3rd, Nunez 4th by the narrowest of margins. Catherine Toriello of Huntsville rounded out the top five in 26:03, giving the local crowd something to cheer about.

The field spread out considerably after that top cluster. Lillie Hughes (Nashville) led the second wave home in 29:44, and a tight group of five runners — Chavet Hills through Melissa Newby — all finished between 34:18 and 35:04, separated by just 46 seconds across four finishers. With 39 women completing the course, the F40-44 group brought genuine depth and competition to Rocket City's December 5K.
