Lucas Mould made this race look straightforward. The 31-year-old from Athens ran a 6:25/mi average to cross in 19:57 — the only sub-20 finish in the M30-34 group and a margin of 1:47 over Damian Moctezuma. That gap is less a race and more a statement.

Moctezuma's 21:44 was a solid 2nd-place effort, and Gage Gross held off any challengers for the final podium spot with a 22:43 — 7:19/mi on a mild December morning in Huntsville. Behind the top three, Lucas Green (25:51) and Jonathan Falwell (26:26) traded places for 4th and 5th, separated by 35 seconds and both comfortably clear of the field behind them.

The most compelling duel of the day came well down the leaderboard, where Jose Salas and Jordan Keller were locked together through virtually the entire 5K. Salas edged it 34:14 to 34:15 — one second across 3.1 miles. Further back, William Hatfield (29:06), Patrick Bond (29:25), and David Chew (29:35) ran a tight cluster through 7th, 8th, and 9th, all within 29 seconds of each other in the high-9:20s per mile.

Two finishers — Nilus Hanawalt (6th) and Tyler Parker (14th) — posted times well into the hours, suggesting something other than a standard race effort, whether a timing anomaly or a very different kind of morning.
