Rachel Evans made this one look easy. The Meridianville runner crossed in 24:27 at a 7:52-per-mile clip, a pace that no one else in the F35-39 field came close to matching. Her margin of victory — 5 minutes and 24 seconds over Stacy Pierce — wasn't a photo finish; it was a statement. On a mild December morning in Huntsville, with temperatures sitting at 59°F and a light breeze, conditions were about as cooperative as they get, and Evans took full advantage.

Behind her, Pierce (29:51) and Danielle Dutcher (31:24) ran a clean podium race. Pierce, a local Huntsville runner, held off Dutcher by a minute and a half — comfortable but not unthreatened. Dutcher's 10:06 pace put her just ahead of a tight mid-pack cluster where five runners — Alducin, England, Whittington, Rasputina, and Interiano — finished within 1:43 of each other between 32:27 and 34:09.

The back half of the field spread out considerably, with Emily Roy (11th, 39:18) through Heather Carter (20th, 54:14) covering a range of more than 15 minutes. Two results stand out as anomalies: Brittany Nicole Thompson's listed time of 9:32:05 and Erika Phillips's 9:41:15 are clearly not standard 5K finishes — both runners are credited with their places in the age group, but their times reflect something far beyond a typical race effort. The 20 women who toed the line in F35-39 made for a genuinely competitive field, with Evans simply operating at a different level.
