• Kelley Kastner won the F40-44 age group in 1:38:37 (7:31/mi), holding the top women's spot throughout and posting the 5th-fastest women's split on the 8M-to-Finish stretch.
• Linda Bowen ran the 8th-fastest women's closing split to move from 4th to 7th among women overall, finishing 2nd in the age group in 1:42:59 — a 4:22 gap back to Kastner.
• The podium was settled with some breathing room: Emily Waite took 3rd in 1:44:11, just over a minute behind Bowen.
• A tight mid-pack battle played out around the 8-minute pace: Felicia Stevens (4th, 1:45:34) and Andrea Renegar (5th, 1:45:52) were separated by just 18 seconds across 13.1 miles.

Kelley Kastner, 40, from Saint Louis, made the trip to Huntsville worth every mile. She led the women's field from start to finish — her gender position never wavered from 1st — and she backed it up with a strong closing leg, posting the 5th-fastest women's split from mile 8 to the finish. At 7:31 per mile, she was running a different race than everyone else in the F40-44 field.

Behind her, Linda Bowen of Birmingham was the age group's most compelling closer. She entered the final stretch sitting 4th among women and finished 7th, meaning she gave ground in the women's field late — but her 8th-fastest women's closing split still earned her a comfortable 2nd in the age group. Emily Waite, also from Birmingham, rounded out the podium in 1:44:11, holding steady at 13th among women across the full race.

The race for 4th and 5th was the tightest battle on the board. Felicia Stevens (Ashland, KY) and Andrea Renegar (Rockvale, TN) ran nearly identical races at 8:03 and 8:05 per mile respectively, with Renegar actually gaining a spot in the women's field over the final miles — but Stevens held her off by 18 seconds when it counted. Sixty women finished in the F40-44 age group in Huntsville, and the depth showed: the top five were all under 1:46, with a noticeable gap before the field widened out from 6th place onward.
