• Tight middle-podium battle: Pamela Donnelly (3rd, 1:09:44) and Michele Diliberto (2nd, 1:08:58) were separated by just 46 seconds, but Donnelly faded on the 5K–10K segment — her women's field split rank slid to 173rd — while Diliberto held steadier through the finish.
• Amy O'Connor (17th, 1:18:41) and Toni Swinson (18th, 1:18:42): one second separated them at the line.
• Laura Holmes (5th, 1:11:54) and Jody Musolino (4th, 1:11:39): just 15 seconds between them at the finish, though Holmes's pace of 7:43/mi trailed Musolino's 7:41/mi throughout.

Shuirong Zhu of Syracuse made the F50-54 race her own from the outset. Running 6:39/mi across 9.3 miles of Utica roads on a humid July morning, she climbed from 52nd among women at the first checkpoint all the way to 42nd by the finish — a steady, relentless move through the broader women's field. Her 40th-fastest women's split on the 5K–10K segment showed she wasn't just holding form; she was still hunting. Her 1:01:55 finish left no doubt about who owned this field.

Behind her, Michele Diliberto of Marcy claimed 2nd in 1:08:58 (7:24/mi), holding a consistent position in the women's field throughout. Pamela Donnelly of Vernon made a stronger early push — sitting 30 places ahead of Diliberto among women at the halfway mark — but faded on the back half, posting the 173rd-fastest women's split on the 5K–10K stretch and finishing 3rd in 1:09:44. That fade cost her second place; Diliberto's steadiness was the difference.

The fourth and fifth spots went to a pair of 52-year-olds separated by just 15 seconds: Jody Musolino of North Tonawanda (4th, 1:11:39) edged Laura Holmes of Saranac Lake (5th, 1:11:54). Holmes actually moved backward through the women's field in each segment, slipping from 196th to 216th among women — a sign Musolino was the stronger closer. Aurora Kramer (6th, 1:12:14) and Stephanie Hitztaler (7th, 1:12:26) rounded out a tight top seven, with just 32 seconds covering those two spots.
