Boys 14-and-Under: Gleasman Wins a Tight Battle at the Front

Caleb Gleasman of Rome claimed the M01-14 title in 59:13, averaging 6:21 per mile across the full 15K — and the race's most compelling subplot was the duel right behind him. Andrew Eustace of Hamburg matched him stride for stride through the opening 10K, but Gleasman pulled clear on the final stretch. Eustace's 10K-to-finish split was actually slightly faster than Gleasman's on that closing segment, making up a sliver of ground — but not quite enough. Nine seconds separated them at the line: 59:13 to 59:22. That's a close finish time, but Gleasman earned it by building the lead earlier and holding on when Eustace turned up the pressure.

Parker Mason of Manlius locked up third in 1:03:34 (6:49/mi), finishing more than four minutes ahead of fourth-place William Filarey (13, Rome, 1:06:33). That gap effectively made the podium a two-race story: a nail-biter for the top two spots, and then a comfortable margin for Mason in third. Filarey and Alexander Andolina of Durham, NC (5th, 1:07:20) rounded out a competitive middle of the pack, both 13-year-olds trading positions through the race's segments.

The age range across this field was genuinely striking. Most of the top finishers were 14, but 13-year-olds populated the top ten throughout — and M. Joslin of Yorkville, just 10 years old, crossed in 1:18:18 (8:24/mi) to claim 16th among 52 finishers. Liam Tylutki and Kimball Mackowski finished back-to-back in 11th and 12th, both clocking 7:47/mi with just two seconds between them (1:12:29 and 1:12:31). All 52 boys who started finished, covering 9.3 miles on a clear but sticky July morning in Utica.
