Brian Byrne of London, Ontario gave chase and earned a clear 2nd-place finish in 53:44 (5:46/mi), posting the 58th-fastest split among men on the 5K-to-10K segment. The 1:21 gap between Byrne and Drowne at the line reflects a real difference in pace — Drowne was running nearly 10 seconds per mile faster — making this a decisive win rather than a close contest.

Jordan Varano of Binghamton rounded out the podium in 3rd with a 58:35 (6:17/mi), his own strong move through the men's field during the middle segment helping him build a comfortable cushion over the group that followed.
