Girls 14-and-Under: Romary Runs Away with the Boilermaker Title

Thirteen-year-old Daphne Romary of New York City was never seriously challenged. She crossed in 1:22:08 at an 8:49/mi clip, building enough of a cushion that the race for second place was its own separate contest entirely. Her gender place actually dipped slightly through the middle stretch — she was 378th among women through 5K, then 367th at 10K, before settling 408th at the finish — but she held her lead within the F01-14 field from start to finish.

Behind her, twelve-year-old O. Beauchat of Sidney, NY made a strong move over the final 5K, posting the 456th-fastest women's closing split to come home in 1:24:19 and lock up second. Fourteen-year-old Sophia Isabel Garza of Manlius similarly found another gear late — 505th-fastest women's closing split — finishing third in 1:25:19. Both athletes were climbing through the women's field as others faded in the humidity.

Claire Lavelle (14, East Syracuse) and C. Griffin (12, Colchester, CT) completed the top five in 1:27:15 and 1:28:52 respectively, with Lavelle posting the 493rd-fastest women's closing split to move from 790th among women at 10K all the way to 671st at the finish — a notable surge in tough conditions. Isabella Candee (1:33:30), Laney St. Croix (1:37:35), and O. Carcone (1:39:36) followed to round out the top eight, with ten-year-old V. Belush of Sherburne finishing 20th in 2:08:34 — a standout effort from the youngest competitor in the field.
