His 6:00/mi average over 13.1 miles on a warm November morning in Fresno — 74°F and clear — was a performance the rest of the Masters Men field simply had no answer for. The gap to 2nd place wasn't a close call; it was a statement.

Behind Arevalo, the race for the podium was genuinely gripping. Jason Dudley (Hanford) and Jake Bergen (Fresno) ran virtually identical races — both at 6:17/mi, both climbing from outside the top 85 men at the mile mark into the top 15 by 10K. Dudley held on for 2nd by two seconds, a margin that likely came down to the final stretch. The depth of the Masters Men field — 286 finishers in all — produced its own compelling storylines further down the leaderboard. Joe Amendt, at 56, running 6:46/mi to finish 9th, stood out among a top 10 otherwise dominated by athletes in their early 40s. And at the back of the listed finishers, 68-year-old Alex Silverman of Oakhurst ran 1:39:30 to claim 19th — a result that speaks for itself.
