Two Cities Half Marathon F45-49: Spencer Dominates in the Central Valley Heat

• Nidia Ramirez, 1:47:03 — posted the 34th-fastest women's split from mile 1 to 10K, holding her position among the women steadily from that point to the finish.
• Aurora Serafin Sandoval blazed out early — 13th among women through the first mile — before fading to 53rd among women by the finish line, clocking 1:52:04 for 4th in F45-49.
• A tight mid-pack battle: Julie DeYoung (1:56:13), Shoua Yang (1:57:16), and Martha Cobian (1:57:37) separated by just 84 seconds across 6th through 8th.

Running in 74°F Fresno heat, Erin Spencer turned in the kind of race that makes the result look inevitable. She started conservatively — 54th among women at mile 1 — then shifted gears, climbing to 26th by the 10K mark and 19th by the finish. That closing surge included the 17th-fastest women's split from 10K to the finish line, a stretch where she was simply reeling in competitors one by one. Her 7:40/mi average was the class of the F45-49 field, and her 1:40:32 finish left no doubt.

Nidia Ramirez, also of Fresno, ran a composed and consistent race to claim 2nd in 1:47:03. She was 68th among women through the opening mile, then moved up sharply to 33rd by 10K — powered by the 34th-fastest women's split on that segment — and held that position all the way to the tape at 8:10/mi. Katie Salcido of Pismo Beach rounded out the podium in 1:49:31, finishing with momentum: her 44th-fastest women's split from 10K to the finish reflects a strong back half at 8:21/mi.

The race's most dramatic arc belonged to Aurora Serafin Sandoval. She launched from the gun and sat 13th among women through the first mile, looking like a podium threat. But the pace caught up — she slipped to 23rd by 10K and 53rd among women overall by the finish, crossing in 1:52:04 for 4th in F45-49. Joy Judd of Coarsegold showed the opposite trajectory, starting 90th among women and working her way up to 64th by the finish in 1:53:55, good for 5th. Sixty-four women completed the F45-49 race in all, with the top 20 ranging from Spencer's 1:40:32 down to Rebecca Floyd's 2:15:17 — a field that clearly came to race.
