Navraj Sanhan of Clovis was in command from the start and only tightened his grip as the race progressed. He entered the men's field at 24th after the first mile, moved to 20th by the 10K mark, and surged to 14th by the finish — the kind of steady, relentless climb that speaks to a well-executed race plan. His 6:23/mi pace was the benchmark of the morning in this age group, and his 11th-fastest split among men on the 10K-to-finish stretch confirmed he was accelerating when others were fading.

The real drama behind him was Valdez's charge. The 15-year-old from Fresno was buried in 46th among men through the first mile but had rocketed to 26th by 10K and 21st at the line — posting the 22nd-fastest men's split on that closing stretch. His 1:27:06 finish, more than three minutes behind Sanhan but a clear 3:03 ahead of third place, made him the standout mover of the race.

Smith (3rd, 1:30:09) held steady through the back half after posting the 33rd-fastest men's split in the opening 1M-to-10K segment. Behind him, Payan and Tandon told opposite tales: Tandon ran a strong early segment (28th-fastest men's split, 1M to 10K) but faded from 17th among men to 38th by the finish, while Payan did the reverse — dropping to 50th among men at 10K before recovering to 36th at the line. The result was nearly identical finish times — 1:31:55 and 1:32:50 — despite very different journeys to get there. Jaime Madrigal (6th, 1:33:32) and Elias Vital (7th, 1:33:47) kept it close behind them, separated by just 15 seconds.
