Behind Silverman, Jose Melchor (2nd, 1:52:35) represented local Fresno well, running a steady 8:35/mi to finish 13:05 back of the winner but a clear 8:24 ahead of third. Melchor's race told a different story in the men's standings — he slipped from 155th to 174th on the back half, meaning Oscar Guzman (3rd, 2:00:59) was the one making up ground late.
