Brock Kitchen made this one look decisive. The 17-year-old from Clovis ran a 7:25/mi average to finish in 3:14:26 — a time that would qualify for the Boston Marathon on this USATF-certified point-to-point course — and put 14 full minutes between himself and the next finisher. Kitchen did fade slightly in the back half, slipping from 41st to 47th among the men's field on the 10K-to-finish stretch, but none of that mattered within the M15-19 group. His lead was never in danger.

The real drama unfolded in the fight for 2nd through 4th. Maddox Weng, 19, of Fresno came home in 3:28:26 at 7:57/mi, but Brady Butcher of Bakersfield was right on his heels — 3:29:27, just 61 seconds back. Butcher had actually started the second half in a much stronger position, sitting 25th among the men at the 10K mark, but faded to 83rd by the finish. Weng, by contrast, was a strong closer, moving from 115th to 78th among the men over that same stretch — a genuine catch-up that made the difference between 2nd and 3rd.

Juan Herrera, another 17-year-old from Fresno, ran 3:29:41 to finish 4th — just 14 seconds behind Butcher. He ran the back half at a remarkably steady clip, barely moving from 85th to 84th among the men, which speaks to consistent pacing across the flat Central Valley course.

The back of the field told its own story. Jose Quintana, 16, finished 5th in 4:11:17, with a notable gap back to Jacob Rodriguez (6th, 4:19:45) and Alex Ortiz (7th, 4:30:07). Preston Allison, the group's youngest at 15, gutted out 5:09:42 in 9th. Jeremy Cortez, 18, brought it home last in 6:14:58 — all 13 teenagers finishing a full marathon on a Sunday morning in Fresno.
