• Mitchell Larrieta Angeles and Anthony Sharp both launched massive late charges — Angeles ran the fastest men's split on the 12M→Finish stretch to climb from 52nd among men at the gun to 9th; Sharp posted the 2nd-fastest men's split on that same closing stretch, mirroring the surge.
• Alex Yoshino, 16, contributed the 3rd-fastest men's 12M→Finish split to anchor a San Mateo 1-2 with teammate Isaac Albert (6th, 1:23:06) — both 16 years old.

Ryan Chen ran a race that was never in doubt by the finish, but the path there was anything but smooth. He entered the early miles sitting 3rd among men, slipped back as far as 8th by mid-race, then drove all the way back to 3rd among men by the line — a testament to a devastating 9.6M→10.5M surge that ranked 2nd-fastest among all men on that segment. His 5:58/mi average over 13.1 miles in 59°F and a stiff 14 mph Bay wind left the rest of the M19 & Under field more than four minutes back.

Behind him, the race for 2nd through 6th was a genuine spectacle. Colton Ryssemus, 17, out of Brookdale, did his damage earlier — posting the 5th-fastest men's split on the 8M→9.6M segment — and held on for 2nd in 1:22:25. Then came the late-charge brigade: Larrieta Angeles had been buried 52nd among men through most of the race before the 12M→Finish segment turned into his personal runway. Sharp tracked a nearly identical trajectory, also starting outside the top 50 among men before his closing kick. Yoshino (4th, 1:23:01) and Albert (6th, 1:23:06) were the quieter stories — steadier movers who didn't need a dramatic final stretch to land on the podium.

The gap from 6th to 7th tells its own story: Isaac Albert's 1:23:06 and Ramiro Calletano Gonzalez's 1:27:28 represent a four-minute chasm that effectively separated two different races happening on the same course. Behind Gonzalez, 16-year-old Charlie Rubenstein (8th, 1:28:35), Paolo Gori (9th, 1:29:17), and Donovan Carlson (10th, 1:29:18) rounded out a top ten that skewed notably young — four of the top six finishers were 16 or younger.
