Helen Campbell of Wokingham ran the kind of race that leaves no doubt. Her 8:32/mi average was a full 21 seconds per mile faster than runner-up Ling-Yuan Kong (San Francisco, CA), and she built that gap methodically. Campbell's gender place tracking tells the story: she climbed from 94th among women at the first checkpoint all the way to 97th at the finish — a model of controlled, consistent execution. She even posted the 80th-fastest women's split on the 9.6M–10.5M segment, staying sharp deep into the race while others faded around her. Kong (1:56:22, 8:53/mi) held second comfortably, finishing 8 minutes clear of the podium battle behind her.

That podium battle was genuinely gripping. Rexroat (Scottsdale, AZ) and Chong (San Jose, CA) ran nearly the entire race in each other's pockets, and both posted their strongest relative splits in the 8M–9.6M segment — Chong's 205th-fastest women's split there edging Rexroat's 226th — before Rexroat held on for third by 17 seconds at 2:04:37 to Chong's 2:04:54. Further back, Paola Miolato of Padova (7th, 2:09:55) led a cluster of eight finishers packed between 2:09 and 2:12, headlined by Huiruo Wang (Wuxi, 8th, 2:10:40), Bharathi Ramajayam (San Ramon, CA, 9th, 2:10:53), and Beth Faure (Redwood City, CA, 10th, 2:11:59). The F60-64 field across all 60 finishers proved that racing doesn't slow down with age — it just gets harder to win.
