Men's 10K: Doocy Dominates at Fort Ord

• James Doocy won the men's race in 45:17 (7:17/mi), more than a minute and a half clear of the field.
• Alexis Perez and Michel Ramirez ran a tight battle for the podium, finishing 2nd in 46:54 and 3rd in 47:30 — separated by just 36 seconds.
• Andrew McIntire faded from an early lead to 4th (47:53), posting the 8th-fastest Skyline→Finish split among the men on the way down.
• Ukiah Unangst, just 15 years old, crossed 7th in 52:47 — ahead of a 56-year-old and a 47-year-old in a men's field of 65.

James Doocy, the 38-year-old Monterey local, made this race look like a training run. His 45:17 — a 7:17/mi clip — left runner-up Alexis Perez 1:37 back and the rest of the men's field further still. On home terrain, Doocy was simply in a different gear from the moment the gun went off.

Behind him, Perez (27, Salinas) and Michel Ramirez (31, Salinas) waged their own private race for the podium. Perez held 2nd at 46:54, with Ramirez pressing hard to finish 3rd in 47:30. Andrew McIntire told a different story: the 32-year-old from Fremont apparently led early — holding 1st among the men at some point — before fading to 4th by the finish in 47:53. He did manage the 8th-fastest Skyline→Finish split in the men's field on that closing stretch, suggesting he still had some fight left even as the podium slipped away.

The most eye-catching subplot deeper in the field belonged to 15-year-old Ukiah Unangst of Long Beach, who finished 7th in 52:47. He crossed ahead of Jean-Francois Vanreusel (56, Pebble Beach) in 8th at 53:34 and Matthew Zefferman (47, Marina) in 9th at 55:31 — a teenager outrunning two veterans on Fort Ord's demanding trails. With 65 men finishing across a wide range of ages and paces, the race delivered plenty of drama well beyond the front of the pack.
