Santa Rosa 10K: Catherine DuBay Dominates the F60-69 Field

• Catherine DuBay won in 44:47 (7:12/mi) — nearly 4 minutes clear of 2nd place in a 26-woman field.
• Ann Thrupp ran a strong 2nd in 48:30 (7:48/mi), separating herself from the rest of the field by more than 13 minutes.
• Places 3–5 were a genuine battle: Christina Gill (3rd, 1:01:46), Sue Castleman (4th, 1:02:10), and Kathy Hansen (5th, 1:02:34) finished within 48 seconds of each other.
• Places 7–9 were equally tight: Jeannette Engel (7th, 1:06:01), Rose Zoia (8th, 1:06:20), and Amy Bean (9th, 1:06:49) were separated by just 48 seconds.

Catherine DuBay, 60, of Santa Rosa made the F60-69 race her own from the start. Her 44:47 finish at 7:12 per mile wasn't just a win — it was a statement, putting nearly four minutes between herself and 2nd-place Ann Thrupp's solid 48:30. Thrupp, 66, of Sebastopol, ran a composed 7:48/mi to hold off the rest of the field by a commanding margin — the gap from 2nd to 3rd was over 13 minutes.

Behind those two, the real racing happened in a tight cluster. Christina Gill (3rd, 1:01:46), Sue Castleman (4th, 1:02:10), and Kathy Hansen (5th, 1:02:34) traded positions across a 48-second window — any one of them could have swapped places with a single strong mile. Ann DuBay (6th, 1:04:47) rounded out the top six, just over two minutes back from that trio.

The competition stayed close further down the leaderboard as well. Jeannette Engel (7th, 1:06:01), Rose Zoia (8th, 1:06:20), and Amy Bean (9th, 1:06:49) formed another tight cluster, with just 48 seconds covering all three. Elizabeth Burr finished 10th in 1:08:16, capping off a competitive top ten that saw seven of the nine runners from 3rd through 9th finish within a four-and-a-half-minute window — all of it under cool, misty Santa Rosa skies.
