• Tightest battle of the day: Melissa Styles (5th, 48:24) edged Leah Aguirre (4th, 48:17) by just seven seconds — the narrowest margin in the top 20.

Mueller ran the F30-39 race in a different gear entirely. Her 6:51/mi average produced a 42:34 that stood a full minute clear of the field — and in cool, misty 60°F conditions that should have suited everyone equally, that gap was purely earned. Gutierrez (43:34, 7:01/mi) was the clear second-best force on the course, running a noticeably faster pace than anyone behind her, but Mueller was simply gone.

The real drama unfolded in the chase pack. Tubridy's 47:04 locked up 3rd, but the fight for 4th and 5th was the most gripping battle of the morning: Aguirre (48:17) and Styles (48:24) finished just seven seconds apart after more than 6 miles of racing. Staggs followed in 6th at 49:32, giving Sebastopol and Santa Rosa each a representative in the top six.

Further back, the middle of the field compressed tightly. Stacy Davidson (13th, 55:28) and Zoe Moon (14th, 55:29) finished just one second apart — a gap so small it barely registers — while Courtney Payne (12th, 55:09) sat only 19 seconds ahead of them.
