Santa Rosa 10K: Chernoh dominates the F40-49 field in the mist

• Heather Chernoh, 42, wins in 46:15 — a 7:27/mi average that put more than three minutes of clear air between her and the rest of the F40-49 field.
• Carrie Hunt takes 2nd in 49:35 (7:59/mi), with Andrea Guzman rounding out the podium in 51:17 (8:15/mi) — a gap of 1:42 between them.
• Positions 4–10 compressed into just over two minutes: Katie Slattery (4th, 54:33) through Nicole Le-Savko (10th, 57:05) spanned only 2:32.
• 83 women finished in the F40-49 field on a cool, misty North Bay morning.

Under gray Santa Rosa skies — 60°F, a light mist, and 91% humidity — the F40-49 race had a clear story at the front: Heather Chernoh of Ukiah simply ran away from the field. Her 46:15 finish at 7:27/mi wasn't just a win; it was a statement. The 3:20 gap she opened over runner-up Carrie Hunt (49:35) was the largest margin between any two consecutive places on the day, and it never looked close.

Hunt, a Santa Rosa local running 7:59/mi, held 2nd comfortably ahead of fellow Santa Rosa resident Andrea Guzman, who crossed in 51:17 at 8:15/mi. That 1:42 gap between 2nd and 3rd was real, but both finished well clear of the chase pack forming behind them.

From 4th through 10th, the racing was genuinely tight. Katie Slattery (54:33) and Kate Bell (55:06) were separated by just 33 seconds, with Cristina Revilla (55:38) close behind. Then came a cluster of four — Maria Ramirez (56:43), Teri Woodson (56:55), Brenda Letona (56:57), and Nicole Le-Savko (57:05) — all finishing within 22 seconds of each other. If any of those four had a stronger final mile, the order could have shuffled several times over.

Further back, Tunisia Frederick (11th, 57:33) through Kuanyan Franz (20th, 1:01:17) kept the field competitive well into the standings, with 63 more finishers completing an F40-49 race that showed real depth across all 83 starters.
