Soohan Kim, 67, from Tujunga, CA, turned in a performance that simply belonged in a different race. His 1:37:06 — 7:24 per mile through the fog and hills of San Francisco — wasn't just a win; it was a statement. He began the race moving through the men's field steadily, and by the back half he was posting the 102nd-fastest split on the second half among all men, a sign that he was still pressing when others were managing. No one in the M65-69 field came within 20 minutes of him.

The real drama played out in the fight for 2nd through 4th. Lawrence Binderow, 65, from Del Mar, made his move on the 2.95M–5M segment, posting the 466th-fastest men's split there — a strong mid-race surge that helped him build the cushion he'd need. Ramon Catindig, 65, from Edinburg, TX, ran his best segment late, putting up the 477th-fastest men's split on the 10.9M-to-finish stretch to close in 1:58:42, but Binderow's 1:57:11 held. Doug Fraleigh, 67, from Sonora, finished 1:58:58 — just 16 seconds behind Catindig, with all three men finishing within a span of 87 seconds. Fraleigh had also been strong on the 2.95M–5M leg (507th-fastest men's split there), but couldn't quite reel in the two ahead of him.

Joel Hayflick, 65, from Palo Alto, was the fifth finisher at 2:01:41 — though his mid-race trajectory told a cautionary tale, sliding from a strong early position before fading on the 5M–10.9M segment, where he posted the 640th-fastest men's split. Toni Hossmann, 65, representing Kiesen, and Don Gall, 67, of Vacaville finished 6th and 7th in 2:13:18 and 2:17:08 respectively, leading a group of five men who finished between 2:13 and 2:21.
