F40-49 at Jed Smith Ultra Classic: Elamiri dominates in the rain

Cold, wet, and windy — 51°F with light rain and 14 mph gusts — set the stage for a demanding morning on the Sacramento course. In the F40-49 age group, Ewa Elamiri of Folsom made it look manageable. Running at a 7:56/mi clip, she didn't just win her age group; she was 3rd among all women in the field, and her Lap 1→Finish split was the 2nd-fastest of any woman on that segment. She moved from 3rd to 2nd among women during that final stretch, a clear sign she was accelerating while others were grinding through the conditions.

Fellow Folsom runner Allison Harrington settled into a steady rhythm, finishing in 2:45:25 and holding a consistent position around 20th–21st among women throughout. Her 20th-fastest women's split on the Out & Back→Lap 1 segment showed she was competitive in the early going, even if the gap to Elamiri was never really in question.

Angela Surgeon (48) and Blythe Marshman (40) both had strong closing legs relative to their positions — each moved up in the women's field on the Lap 1→Finish segment, finishing 27th and 28th among women respectively. Surgeon crossed in 3:27:36 and Marshman in 3:42:43, both grinding out a finish in genuinely difficult weather. Four starters, four finishers — no one quit on a day that had every reason to make them consider it.
