Tyler Rose made the M1-29 age group his from the gun. Running 7:06 per mile through a cold, wet Sacramento morning — 51°F, light rain, and 14 mph wind — Rose was never seriously challenged, holding steady throughout and crossing in 1:32:58. The margin over second place was 37 minutes and 18 seconds, which speaks for itself.

Behind Rose, the real race was between 12-year-old Cody Skibby and 16-year-old Henry Tillisch. Skibby came through the Out & Back-to-Lap 1 segment with the 9th-fastest men's split in that stretch, while Tillisch posted the 13th-fastest on the same segment — a gap that translated almost exactly into the 1:17 that separated them at the finish line. Skibby held on for second in 2:10:16, Tillisch third in 2:11:33.

Kyle Kern and Jerin Jose brought up the rear in 2:29:42 and 2:36:05 respectively, both working through the same damp conditions at an 11-plus minute-per-mile pace. Kern's 20th-fastest men's Out & Back-to-Lap 1 split just edged Jose's 21st, and that order held all the way to the finish — a 6:23 gap between them at the line.
