Thirty-nine women aged 60–64 took on a cool, humid San Francisco morning — 57°F with heavy air at 88% humidity — and Kimberly Fanady of San Francisco made it look like her home course. Her 7:57/mi average was a level above the rest of the F60-64 field, and she crossed in 49:25 with a closing segment fast enough to rank 75th among all women on that stretch. There was never any real drama at the front.

Behind Fanady, the battle for the podium played out across a compact three-minute span. Terry Quan of Menlo Park ran 53:50 for 2nd, moving up five spots among women on the closing leg with the 131st-fastest split on that segment. Joanne Babin (55:13, 3rd) and Carrie Cheng (56:55, 4th) held their positions on the final stretch, with Babin slipping two spots among women and Cheng gaining one — small adjustments that kept the order nearly unchanged but confirmed both women ran a consistent, committed race.

The most eye-catching late move belonged to Eunice Leung Luu, who surged from 627th to 547th among women over the closing 4.62 miles to finish 5th in 1:01:11 — an 80-place climb that separated her from 6th-place Heather Shatz (1:01:31) by just 20 seconds. Further back, a remarkable cluster of four runners — Karen Williams (1:08:16), Maria Martinez (1:08:30), Jill Koeven (1:08:33), and Sandie Calteaux (1:08:40) — finished 11th through 14th within a span of just 24 seconds, making that stretch of the F60-64 leaderboard one of the tightest of the morning.
