SF Marathon 10K — F30-34: Clarke Laps the Field in 35:19

• Holly Clarke won the F30-34 race in 35:19 (5:41/mi) — nearly 9 minutes clear of 2nd place, and posted the 2nd-fastest women's closing split (4.62M to finish) in the entire women's field.
• Steph Abe (3rd, 45:01) and Yana Tsareva (4th, 45:32) both moved up in the women's standings on the back half, posting the 18th- and 16th-fastest women's closing splits, respectively — Tsareva in particular climbing four spots late.
• Sarah Heesaker (2nd, 44:19) and Abe (3rd, 45:01) were separated by just 42 seconds, with Heesaker holding the edge despite Abe running a faster closing split.
• Kyra Sibley (6th, 47:09) raced the SF Marathon weekend twice — she had already placed 8th among women in the Saturday 5K before returning to crack the F30-34 top ten here.

Holly Clarke simply ran a different race than everyone else in the F30-34 field of 532. Her 35:19 — averaging 5:41 per mile — wasn't just a win; it was a statement, landing her 9 minutes ahead of runner-up Sarah Heesaker and holding the women's lead wire-to-wire. She capped it off with the 2nd-fastest closing split among all women from 4.62 miles to the finish, making clear she wasn't coasting.

Behind Clarke, the real competition unfolded in the 44- to 46-minute range. Heesaker (44:19) crossed 2nd with a 7:08/mi average, but Abe (45:01) and Tsareva (45:32) were both gaining ground on the back half. Abe climbed two spots in the women's standings over the final stretch; Tsareva went even further, jumping four spots with the 16th-fastest women's closing split. Neither could reel in Heesaker, but both made the finish line count.

The battle for 5th and 6th was tighter still. Stephanie Coffin (5th, 46:55) held off Kyra Sibley (6th, 47:09) by just 14 seconds — and Sibley deserves extra credit for even being here. She'd already raced the weekend's Saturday 5K, finishing 8th among women in that event, before lining up and running a 47:09 to claim 6th in F30-34. From 7th through 14th, seven athletes finished within a 90-second window, capping off a deep and competitive race across all 532 finishers.
