She settled slightly from there but held firm, finishing 1,105th among women. Anne Marie Gonsalves, 78, ran a steady race in her own right, finishing 2nd in 2:37:19 at 12:00/mi. She made consistent progress through the women's field — moving from 1,360th at the first checkpoint to 1,228th at the finish — and her 4.9-to-11.9-mile split (1,150th among women) was notably faster than Barbara Davids's 1,537th-fastest split over that same stretch. That gap on the back half is where Gonsalves put distance on Davids, who finished 3rd in 3:08:40 (14:24/mi). Davids held her position in the women's field almost perfectly from start to finish — 1,548th in, 1,555th out — a picture of consistency across 13.1 miles.
