Starting 11th among men, Garnett climbed to 8th on the 6.8M-to-finish stretch, posting the 10th-fastest split on that segment in the men's field. Right behind him, the battle for the podium was genuinely tight. Adam Tremonte (30, Spring Hill, TN) crossed in 1:21:38 and Jackson Feezell (30, Berea, KY) in 1:22:35 — both sub-6:20 pace, both impressive in the cold. Interestingly, Tremonte and Feezell moved in opposite directions late: Tremonte slipped one spot among men (10th to 11th) while Feezell faded more noticeably (8th to 13th), suggesting Tremonte found a second gear that Feezell couldn't quite match on the back half.

After Feezell, the race fractured. Josh Tomlin (4th, 1:28:32) and Branson Teachey (5th, 1:31:44) ran solid races but were in a different conversation entirely — nearly five minutes behind the podium.
