• Mia Gentle won the F50-54 age group in 1:42:56 — a 7:51/mi pace that put her 25th among all women in the field.
• Clare Portinga ran the strongest second half in the top five, posting the 46th-fastest women's split on the 6.8M-to-finish stretch to climb from 147th among women at mid-race all the way to 77th — and from outside the top three to third in F50-54.
• Chaya Rosenberg faded in the back half, dropping from 83rd among women to 122nd on that same closing stretch, which cost her a podium spot — she finished 5th, just 21 seconds behind Kimberly Benefield.

In 29°F air with a 16 mph wind cutting across Huntsville, Mia Gentle made it look controlled. She ran 1:42:56 — more than 11 minutes clear of second place — and was still climbing through the women's field in the back half, posting the 25th-fastest women's split from 6.8 miles to the finish. That combination of pace and late strength is what separates a dominant age-group win from a lucky one.

Behind her, the race for second and third was a story of two different strategies. Lesley Garner ran a measured, consistent effort to hold second in 1:54:13. Clare Portinga, meanwhile, was buried in 147th among women at the halfway mark but unleashed the 46th-fastest women's closing split in the field to surge past Garner and claim third — except the final times tell the real story: Garner's 1:54:13 held firm, and Portinga's late charge landed her at 1:55:15, one place back. She moved a mountain in the second half but couldn't quite close the 1:02 gap.

The battle for fourth and fifth was the tightest of the day. Kimberly Benefield crossed in 1:58:15, Chaya Rosenberg in 1:58:36 — just 21 seconds apart. Rosenberg had actually been running in better position among the women earlier in the race (83rd versus Benefield's 169th), but her closing split ranked 151st among women while Benefield's ranked 66th. The second half decided it cleanly.
