Rocket City Half Marathon — M0-14: Caesar runs away from the field

• Andy Caesar (14, Cumming GA) won in 1:29:49 at a 6:51/mi pace — more than 24 minutes clear of 2nd place.
• Three-way photo finish for 3rd–5th: Cooper Hargett, Vincent Schreiber, and Will Flusche all clocked 1:54:27–1:54:28, with places decided by fractions of a second.
• Charlie Reynolds edged Hargett for 2nd despite a slower closing half — Reynolds held 1:54:19 to Hargett's 1:54:27.
• Aaron Davis (12, Wartrace TN) was the youngest finisher in the group, completing the 13.1 miles in 2:50:23.

Eleven boys aged 12–14 toed the line in Huntsville on a frigid December morning — 29°F, clear skies, and a 16 mph wind that made every mile feel harder than the clock suggests. Andy Caesar, 14, from Cumming, Georgia, made none of that look difficult. He crossed in 1:29:49, a 6:51/mi clip that left the rest of the field in a different race entirely. His closest competitor finished more than 24 minutes behind him.

Behind Caesar, the real drama was packed into a single second. Charlie Reynolds (1:54:19) secured 2nd with a comfortable cushion, but 3rd through 5th came down to a dead sprint — or close enough. Cooper Hargett (3rd, 1:54:27), Vincent Schreiber (4th, 1:54:27), and Will Flusche (5th, 1:54:28) were separated by a single second across three finishers, with places sorted by the timing mat's finest measurements. Notably, both Schreiber and Hargett were stronger closers on the back half of the course than Reynolds, but Reynolds had built just enough of a buffer earlier to hold them off.

Finn Doty (6th, 1:57:10) and Keenan Casey (7th, 1:57:29) rounded out a competitive middle pack, both finishing under two hours. Michael Zhang (8th, 2:17:33) ran a solid race in his own right, and Cristian Cruz — the group's lone 13-year-old — finished 9th in 2:30:05 at 11:27/mi. Abel Wright (10th, 2:31:32) was close behind. Bringing up the final spot was 12-year-old Aaron Davis of Wartrace, Tennessee, who finished in 2:50:23 — remarkable simply for the fact that a 12-year-old ran a half marathon in December wind chills that would have sent most adults back to bed.
