The 51-year-old ran a composed 6:24/mi to finish in 2:47:46, holding 12th among all men from start to finish with barely a flicker of movement in the standings. His 12th-fastest men's split on the 6.2M–13.1M stretch showed he was pressing in the middle miles, not just banking time. By the finish, his margin over Daniel Anderson was 3:37 — a gap that made the Masters Men title never really in doubt.

Anderson, 41, out of Redwood City, ran a smart race of his own, gradually working from 17th to 15th among men through the middle stretch before settling for 2nd in 2:51:23 (6:32/mi). Michael Bordoni of Los Altos, also 40, was the model of consistency — parked at 19th among men from the first checkpoint to the last — and claimed 3rd in 2:52:32 (6:35/mi). The podium was settled well before the finish line.

The race's most compelling subplot unfolded in the back half. Nicholas Yu (4th, 2:59:08) and Adam Bechtel (5th, 2:59:18) were buried in the 50s and 60s among men at the midpoint, then shifted gears decisively. Bechtel's 30th-fastest men's split on the 20M-to-finish stretch edged out Yu's 35th-fastest on the same leg — a genuine catch-up battle, with Bechtel narrowing what had been a 7-second gap at 20M to just 10 seconds at the tape. Behind them, Fei Shi (6th, 2:59:28) and Don Wang (7th, 2:59:45) rounded out a four-man cluster all finishing between 2:59:08 and 2:59:45 — 37 seconds covering four athletes after 26.2 miles.
