Long Beach Half Marathon 2025: Raul Arcos Dominates M35-39 in Sub-70 Fashion

• Raul Arcos took the M35-39 title in 1:09:01 at a blistering 5:16/mi — the fastest pace in the listed field by a clear margin.
• Thomas Dialynas was the closest challenger, finishing 2nd in 1:09:24 — just 23 seconds back — while Anders Crabo rounded out the podium in 1:11:09.
• The gap from 3rd to 4th was a significant 1:33, with Marquis Bowden (1:15:42) and Felipe Valencia (1:15:53) running nearly identical times to lock up 4th and 5th.
• A field of 999 finishers in M35-39 made this one of the deepest age brackets on the course.

Raul Arcos of Corona, CA ran a commanding race from start to finish, clocking 1:09:01 at 5:16/mi to win M35-39 outright. His mid-race surge was particularly striking: after sitting 30th among men at the opening checkpoint, he rocketed to 9th by the 10.8-mile mark and held that position to the tape — posting the 4th-fastest split among men on the 5.5M–10.8M stretch. That kind of sustained acceleration over the back half of the course is what separated him from the rest of this competitive field.

Thomas Dialynas of Newport Coast gave chase and came closer than anyone else, finishing in 1:09:24 at 5:18/mi — a 23-second gap that, over 13.1 miles, reflects a real difference in effort. Dialynas had actually been 9th among men at the first checkpoint, meaning Arcos caught and passed him during the middle miles. Dialynas held firm from there, posting the 14th-fastest men's split on the final stretch to lock up 2nd. Anders Crabo of Los Angeles ran a strong closing leg as well — 8th-fastest among men from 10.8M to the finish — climbing from 16th to 14th among men overall and landing 3rd in M35-39 at 1:11:09.

Behind the podium, the 4th–5th battle was the tightest of the day. Marquis Bowden (Long Beach, 1:15:42) and Felipe Valencia (Los Angeles, 1:15:53) were separated by just 11 seconds at the line — both having made big moves through the middle miles, jumping from 66th and 79th among men respectively up into the mid-20s. Matt Estrella of Long Beach rounded out the top six in 1:16:53, and the field remained competitive all the way through 20th, where Aria Ghaffari of Oro Valley finished in 1:27:02.
