Rosanne Ramirez, 36, had a harder road. She sat 5th among women through the middle stretches before finding another gear on Laps 3 and 4 — her 3rd-fastest women's split on that segment pulled her back to 4th in the women's field by the finish. She closed the gap to Shamonda down to 2:54, but the deficit from the early laps was just too much to fully erase. It's the kind of race that will sting: the legs were clearly there at the end.
