Jaclyn Range of Westlake, OH, put together the kind of controlled, front-loaded race that holds up in Cleveland's late-May heat. At 75°F and 68% humidity, the conditions had teeth — and Range's 6:40-per-mile average left no doubt at the line. She sat 7th among all women through the opening 5K, posted the 6th-fastest women's split on the 5K-to-10K segment to move to 6th, and then held that position through the finish. Steady, surgical, and ultimately untouchable.

The race's most compelling subplot belonged to Laura Bange of Cincinnati. She was 19th among women at 5K — outside the top 15 in Masters Women — and then started climbing. By the 10K mark she was up to 14th among women, and she kept pressing through the 10K-to-12.6-mile segment, where she ran the 7th-fastest women's split in the field, vaulting to 8th among women and locking up 2nd in Masters Women. Her 1:29:20 finish (6:49/mi) was a full 1:54 behind Range but a comfortable 1:42 clear of 3rd-place Tina Myslenski, who closed with the 10th-fastest women's split on the final stretch to cement her podium spot.

Erica Dancik of Lakewood made one of the sharpest positional climbs in the field, moving from 34th among women at 5K all the way to 22nd by the finish — a gain of 12 spots. And Peggy Stimac of Fairport Harbor deserves a separate mention entirely: at 65, she ran 1:38:37 at 7:31 per mile to finish 9th in Masters Women, in a 649-finisher field, on a warm and humid morning. That's not a feel-good footnote — that's a result.
