Jorge Villanueva came to Cleveland and made it look like a training run — a fast one. His 5:21/mi average in 75°F heat and 68% humidity is the kind of effort that wins age groups by wide margins, and that's exactly what happened. He moved from 3rd to 2nd among all men by the 5K mark and never looked back, eventually crossing in 1:10:12 to take M25-29 by nearly four and a half minutes. In a group of 380 finishers, that's a statement.

Austen Duggan of Steubenville held 6th among men from the 5K mark through the finish, running a composed 5:42/mi to claim 2nd in the age group in 1:14:40. Behind him, Cleveland's own David Coffey (1:16:14) and Euclid's Jaren Gilliam (1:16:35) ran nearly stride for stride — just 21 seconds separated 3rd from 4th. Both were also among the fastest men on the 5K-to-10K segment, with Coffey posting the 9th-fastest split in the field on that stretch and Gilliam the 10th.

The race's most interesting movement came from Westerville's Andrew Bitter, who was running 18th among men through the early going before working his way up to 14th by the finish.
