Running into a warm Fresno afternoon — 74°F, clear skies — the F45-49 age group delivered one of the tighter podium battles of the day. Aurora Garcia of Madera set the pace and held it, crossing in 29:00 at a 9:20/mi clip to claim the age-group title. Right on her heels, JEN NELSEN pushed all the way to the line, finishing just 14 seconds back in 29:14. That's a slim margin over 3.1 miles — roughly one stride every 13 seconds of racing.

What makes the podium even more striking is that all three medalists share the same age: 45. Mary Garcia of Clovis rounded out the top three in 29:58, meaning the entire podium was decided within a single minute of clock time. Elia Campos of Pixley, three years older at 48, was the first to break that 45-year-old lock on the leaderboard, finishing a solid 4th in 30:08.

The middle of the field showed real depth as well. Li Jin (49, Fresno) closed out the top five in 30:35, and Lizzet Pena and Juliet Calafiore ran nearly stride-for-stride through 6th and 7th, separated by just three seconds (31:48 and 31:51). Rachael Nightengale of Gustine, also 48, was the last finisher in the listed top ten, crossing in 33:35. Across all 42 finishers, the F45-49 group proved it came to race — podium or not.
