Caliska Avila of Fresno made this one look straightforward. Running at a 6:60/mi clip on a warm November morning — 74°F with clear skies — she crossed in 21:44, a full 3 minutes and 22 seconds ahead of runner-up Marina Mendoza of Clovis (25:06, 8:05/mi). In a 5K, that kind of margin isn't a race; it's a statement.

Behind Mendoza, the real drama played out between Carlie Patterson (27:34) and Nassiba Agbere (27:44). Those two Fresno-area runners — Patterson from Clovis, Agbere from Fresno — traded every step of the final stretch, with just 10 seconds ultimately separating 3rd from 4th. Liv Riley rounded out the top five in 28:29, giving Clovis three of the top five finishers on the day.

Further back, Kaylee Nelsen (29:40) and Julia Nelsen (31:52) — sharing a last name and presumably a few training stories — finished 6th and 8th respectively, with Alexis Pena of Tulare slipping between them in 7th at 30:32. Mikayla Contreras of Friant and Laina Calafiore of Clovis rounded out the top ten, all finishing within a tight 2-minute window from 32:02 to 34:02. With 40 finishers total, this was a deep and competitive F20-24 field — even if Avila made the top of it look easy.
