M30-34 at Two Cities: Brown-Johnson edges Seaman in a sub-2:45 duel

• Andrew Seaman was 39 seconds back in 2:44:41 — the two men ran nearly identical races, with Brown-Johnson's closing split from 25.2M to the finish ranking 3rd among men and Seaman's 6th.
• Jesus Villalpando rounded out the podium in 2:46:47, finishing 14th among men — his strongest segment came on the 23M–25.2M stretch, where he posted the 11th-fastest men's split on that leg.
• A gap of nearly six minutes separated 3rd from 4th: Martin Chojnacki crossed in 2:52:39, with Dallas Nord just over a minute further back in 2:53:44.

Eighty-three men lined up in the M30-34 age group on a warm Fresno morning — 74°F under a clear sky — and the race at the front was a genuine two-man affair almost from the gun. Brown-Johnson and Seaman tracked each other through the field, both surging through the first half and continuing to climb the men's standings all the way to the line. Brown-Johnson moved from 58th among men at the opening checkpoint to 12th by the finish; Seaman made a nearly identical journey from 68th to 13th. Thirty-nine seconds was all that separated them after 26.2 miles.

Villalpando was the quiet third force, working his way from 71st among men at mile one up to 14th by the finish. He was particularly strong late — his split on the 23M–25.2M segment ranked 11th among men — but the gap to the top two had already been set, and he finished 2:05 behind Seaman. Chojnacki, who opened with one of the more aggressive early positions in the group (61st among men at the first checkpoint), held his form well enough to claim 4th in 2:52:39, with Nord rounding out the top five in 2:53:44.

Behind the top five, Carlos Hernandez was the next man through in 2:59:53 — the only other finisher to break three hours in the age group — before the field spread out across the back half of the afternoon.
