Paola Gomez, 43, from Bogotá, put the F40-44 race away early and never let anyone close. Running 7:40/mi, she crossed in 3:21:02 — nearly 14 minutes clear of the next F40-44 finisher. She held a steady position among the broader women's field throughout, and then turned up the heat late, posting the 6th-fastest women's split on the final 25.2M-to-finish stretch. On a warm November day in Fresno — 74°F at the gun — that kind of sustained pace is a genuine statement.

The real drama in this group unfolded behind her, where second place was very much up for grabs. Katie Burns, 40, from Logan, UT, ran a controlled race from the front, posting the 13th-fastest women's split in the field over the 10K-to-halfway segment and sitting comfortably in the women's top 16 for most of the afternoon. But Jing Ge-Stadnyk, 44, from Palo Alto, had other plans. Starting the race buried 69th among women, she ground through the field relentlessly — 37th at the quarter, 25th at halfway, 14th by the end — and her 11th-fastest women's split on that closing 25.2M stretch was faster than Burns' finish. The result: Ge-Stadnyk at 3:35:00, Burns at 3:35:33. Burns held on for 3rd, but Ge-Stadnyk had clearly caught and passed her where it counted.

Fourth and fifth were a race of their own. Laura Parkinson, 43, from Kingsburg, CA, mirrored Ge-Stadnyk's pattern — starting 59th among women and working forward all day, posting the 16th-fastest women's split on the half-to-18-mile stretch — to finish in 3:41:38. Ann Marie Bensen, 44, from Windsor, CO, ran a strong second half (19th-fastest women's second-half split) to close within 15 seconds of Parkinson at 3:41:53. Erin Pullen (3:43:07, 6th) and Danielle Ames (3:46:23, 7th) rounded out a competitive top ten that extended all the way to Rachel Vaccaro's 3:55:37 in 10th.
