M60-69 Half Marathon: LaCrosse untouchable at 6:21

• Scott LaCrosse, 62, wins in 1:23:17 — a 6:21/mi average that put nearly four minutes between him and 2nd place.
• Raymond Rodriguez, 63, runs 1:27:08 (6:39/mi) to claim 2nd, finishing 3:51 behind LaCrosse and 6:47 clear of 3rd.
• Positions 6–10 compressed into 17 seconds — Gang Qin (1:39:57), Tony Hills (1:39:59), Genaro Diaz (1:40:02), Will Bashan (1:40:11), and Edward Lerner (1:40:14) ran one of the tightest five-man clusters of the morning.
• Alex Silverman, 68, finishes 4th in 1:38:39 — the oldest man in the top ten, running 7:32/mi through the mist.

Scott LaCrosse came to Santa Rosa and made the M60-69 race look like a solo time trial. His 1:23:17 — 6:21 per mile through cool, misty conditions — was simply in a different register from the rest of the field. He moved steadily through the men's field across the race, and his 7M-to-Finish stretch was the 54th-fastest closing split among all men, a sharp finish that underlined the margin. Raymond Rodriguez gave chase with a composed 6:39/mi effort, crossing in 1:27:08 for a clear 2nd, but the gap to LaCrosse was established well before the finish line.

Jon Megeff rounded out the podium in 1:33:55 (7:10/mi), a further 6:47 back — and then the race opened up into a genuine battle for 4th. Alex Silverman, 68 years old and the oldest finisher in the top ten, posted 1:38:39 to take 4th, edging Keith Hedlund by 59 seconds. Silverman actually moved up ten places in the men's field over the final stretch, while Hedlund faded from his earlier position — a clear catch-up that Silverman executed at 7:32/mi to Hedlund's 7:36/mi.

The most gripping stretch of racing unfolded just behind them. Qin, Hills, Diaz, Bashan, and Lerner — 6th through 10th — were separated by just 17 seconds across the line, finishing between 1:39:57 and 1:40:14. That's five men in their 60s, running 7:37–7:39 pace, essentially shoulder to shoulder through the Santa Rosa mist. Jerry Murphy (11th, 1:42:16) and Joe Kaminski (12th, 1:45:36) kept the pressure on behind them, with 57 finishers in all completing the M60-69 field.
