Under misty skies and near-total humidity in Santa Rosa, Jacqueline Komrij ran the kind of race that makes a result look inevitable. The 60-year-old local clocked 1:35:15 at 7:16 per mile — a pace none of her competitors could answer — and crossed the line more than four minutes clear of the field. The win was emphatic.

Catherine DuBay, also from Santa Rosa, was the steadiest pursuer. Her 1:39:25 at 7:35/mi was good for 2nd, and she ran a consistent race: her position among the women's field barely moved across the second half, holding 82nd from the midpoint to the finish. That composure kept Renae Hayes of Livermore at arm's length. Hayes finished 3rd in 1:41:39 but had to earn it — she moved up 15 spots in the women's field over the final stretch, posting the 85th-fastest women's split on the 7M→Finish segment. The gap between 2nd and 3rd was 2:14; between 3rd and 4th, just 45 seconds.

Gina Edwards of San Francisco took 4th in 1:42:24, also gaining ground late (107th to 99th among women), while 67-year-old Ann Thrupp of Sebastopol was the notable fader in the top five — slipping from 104th to 112th among women over the final miles to finish 5th in 1:44:59. Further back, a tight cluster formed around the 1:49 mark: Laura Schmitt (6th, 1:46:33), Sheila ONeill (7th, 1:49:27), Donna Casey (8th, 1:49:38), and Phyllis Saavedra (9th, 1:49:48) covered just over three minutes of racing between them.
