San Francisco Half Marathon: Crispin Lazarit dominates M50-54 with a 1:20:21 masterclass

Crispin Lazarit made this race look like a solo time trial. The Oakland 52-year-old ran 6:08 per mile through San Francisco's notoriously hilly streets in breezy, humid conditions, and his gender standing tells the story of a man who was never truly challenged — he was running with the lead pack of the entire field. His 6M–8M split ranked 25th among all women in the race, a marker of just how fast he was moving through the mid-race miles. By the finish, he had built a 7:24 gap on Jun Cao, a margin that speaks for itself in a 90-man field.

Cao, 54, out of Los Gatos, was the clear class of the rest of the field at 1:27:45 (6:42/mi), steadily climbing through the men's standings from the gun — his gender place moved from 96th at the first checkpoint all the way up to 64th before a slight fade to 65th at the line. Zhenfei Lu, the youngest man on the podium at 50, ran a composed 7:12/mi to finish 3rd in 1:34:23, while Scott Eastman (1:37:46) and Farshad Family (1:38:19) rounded out a solid top five.

The real drama in the M50-54 field played out between 8th and 10th place, where Qiang Song (1:39:19), Yiquan Hu (1:39:21), and Prashant Fuloria (1:39:28) ran the final miles in lockstep — nine seconds covering three finishers after 13.1 miles of racing. One place lower, Park and Kumar were even more inseparable: 12th in 1:41:06 and 13th in 1:41:07, a single second deciding their fate. With 90 men finishing across the M50-54 field on a windy San Francisco morning, the front was dominant and the middle was electric.
