F70-74 Half Marathon: Vigen leads wire to wire in a three-woman battle through San Francisco

Cheryl Vigen of La Canada Flintridge set the tone from the gun. Her gender position improved from 1,628th to 1,572nd through the first two miles — a sign she came out moving with purpose — and she held that ground through the middle miles, never drifting back to where she started. She crossed in 3:01:36 at a 13:51/mi average, a clear and commanding win in F70-74.

Maggie Mount, 74, had a tougher early stretch, sliding back in the women's field through the first four miles before steadying herself. Her defining moment came late: she posted the 1,463rd-fastest women's split on the 10M–12M segment, a stretch where she was visibly gaining ground and climbing back through the field. She finished in 3:07:03 — not enough to close the 5:27 gap to Vigen, but a strong finish that rewarded her patience in the second half.

Kanak Yadav, 73, of Pleasanton, ran the most consistent positional race of the three, hovering in a tight band through the middle miles before finding a closing gear of her own. Her 12M–Finish split was the 1,630th-fastest among women — a controlled finish to a steady effort — and she crossed in 3:14:26 to complete the F70-74 podium. Three women, three cities, three finishes on one of the country's most demanding urban half marathon courses. In a field this small, every place is earned outright.
