Nicole Garba, 56, from Riverview, FL, turned in one of the most commanding performances of the day among the 63 finishers in the F55-59 field. Running at 7:41/mi, she steadily climbed through the women's field — moving from 90th among women at the first checkpoint all the way to 55th by mile 10 — and never looked back. She posted the 52nd-fastest women's split on the 8M→10M segment, one of the sharpest stretches in her race, and crossed in 1:40:38. The gap to second place wasn't close; it was a statement.

Alice Reynolds, 59, from Sacramento, made her presence felt over the back half of the course. After sitting 342nd among women at the opening checkpoint, she worked her way steadily up to 207th by the finish, capping it with the 144th-fastest women's closing split from 12M to the line. Her 1:53:21 — at 8:39/mi — was a clear and comfortable hold on second place.

The race for third was the most compelling battle in the field. Angie Fung (1:55:30, 8:49/mi) and Riya Young (1:56:29, 8:53/mi) ran in proximity for much of the race, both posting their strongest relative splits on the 4M→6M segment — Fung the 192nd-fastest, Young the 212th-fastest women's split there. Fung built enough of a cushion to hold third by 59 seconds, but it was a genuine contest through the middle miles.

Further back, the battle for fifth was tight and hard-fought. Nicki Pogue, 57, from San Francisco, and Hillsborough's Heather Penny Knuff, 59, finished just 10 seconds apart — Pogue in 2:04:45, Knuff in 2:04:55. Pogue's strong 12M→Finish split (344th-fastest among women) helped her seal the spot. The rest of the top 20 filled out with a dense pack of Bay Area runners, with times ranging from Heidi MacCormick's 2:18:56 down through a field that showed just how competitive the F55-59 group was on a breezy, 59°F morning on the streets of San Francisco.
