Sisay Lemma put on a masterclass in front-running across the 26.2-mile point-to-point from Hopkinton to Copley Square. He sat at the head of the men's race at every checkpoint — 5K, 10K, halfway, 20 miles, and the finish — averaging a relentless 4:49 per mile on a cool, humid Patriots' Day morning. His 2:06:17 was the cleanest line through the field, and the fastest men's split on the 5K–10K segment belonged to him as well.

The real drama unfolded behind him. Mohamed Esa spent the first half of the race shuffling between 4th and 6th before quietly assembling a charge through the Newton Hills. By the time the field crested Heartbreak Hill, Esa had worked his way to 5th, and he closed hard enough to claim 2nd in 2:06:58 — 41 seconds back of Lemma but a full 24 seconds clear of the next man. Evans Chebet, meanwhile, ran a more measured race: he was 3rd at halfway and held that position through to the finish in 2:07:22. For Chebet, it's a podium at a race he knows well, having won it outright in both 2022 and 2023.

John Korir (4th, 2:07:40) and Albert Korir (5th, 2:07:47) rounded out a tightly packed top five — just seven seconds separating them. Isaac Mpofu was the last man under 2:09, finishing 6th in 2:08:17. American CJ Albertson was the top U.S. finisher, crossing 7th in 2:09:53, with Yuma Morii (8th, 2:09:59) and Cybrian Kotut (9th, 2:10:29) close behind. In a men's field of 14,578 finishers, every second at the front counted — and on this day, Lemma never gave anyone a reason to doubt him.
