Foley made it a genuine contest, finishing in 2:40:12 — just 15 seconds back — but the gap between them had been building through the second half. Foley's 325th-fastest split in the field on the 5K–10K segment shows early aggression, but the moves data reflects a steady drift back through the men's standings as the race wore on, from 139th among men at the first checkpoint all the way to 430th by the finish. Sugathadasa, meanwhile, was moving the other direction late — that's where the 15 seconds came from.

Cesar Martins ran a more consistent second half, climbing from 884th among men early to 503rd by mile 23, and finished 3rd in 2:41:44 (6:10/mi).
