Vanessa Kawaharada, 19, from Sacramento, was in a race of her own. Jillian Mao held 2nd place and finished there in 50:58, but her 71st-fastest women's closing split tells a story of survival rather than strength. Callista Lau, just 15 years old, ran her down on the back half — posting the 46th-fastest women's closing split to lock up 3rd in 51:34 — while Claribel Chen (4th, 52:04) wasn't far behind. Elia Gregg, also 15 and traveling from Baltimore, added another layer of intrigue with a charging finish that moved her from 104th to 76th among women, landing her 5th in 53:51.

Further back, the field showed genuine range and grit. Anamika Thadani, just 14, finished 7th in 55:39 — one of the youngest competitors to crack the top ten. The Kschadow sisters from Koenigs Wusterhausen made a trans-Atlantic trip count: Maja took 11th in 57:33 and Eva, at 13, finished 18th in 1:01:47. Junnie Niu (20th, 1:02:04) and Sophia Duma (19th, 1:02:03) separated by just one second rounded out the top 20 in a field that ran deep through all 55 finishers.
